Most cars run on fossil fuels. They take chemicals which have been trapped underground for thousands of years and burn them, releasing CO2 from their exhaust pipes. CO2 is a greenhouse gas and is thought to contribute to global warming. Plants absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and will generally return those gasses to the atmosphere when the plants decompose. If you use plants to fuel your car, the same amount of CO2 is released back into the atmosphere. As this balances the amount of CO2 that was absorbed, there is no net contribution to greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. That's the theory of the Carbon Neutral Car project, but this project isn't about theory. Read the rest of the website to see how we put it into practice.
